This is a truly remarkable, beautiful and charming book. Written in plain English, the Childhood of Jesus takes us from the birth of Christ up to His adolescence.

The birth of the child Jesus is presented in every detail and is every bit the miracle the Bible had described it as being. The Childhood of Jesus fills in many of the details that scholars seem to write off as not having been possible. Sometimes It is interesting to note how easily people who believe in nothing will suggest that what is written in sacred script is nothing more than allegory, wild imaginations or, made up fiction. It is also easy to see how many who preached even in our modern day do not believe in what they were preaching, if they did they would act differently. So why should we be surprised by scholars who analyze in strictly physical possibilities what is not and never had been intended to be a purely physical discourse.

The guiding star present at the birth of Christ is presented as fact in the Childhood of Jesus as are the Magi, the birth in a cave, the presence of Romans and later the attempts to get rid of Jesus by Herod, the flight of the young family to Egypt to escape it, and the many episodes of Jesus growing up and teaching, only in much greater detail. If you already accept what is in the Bible as being real, the Childhood of Jesus will make it even more so.

It is very interesting but not surprising to note that, just like the rest of us, Jesus had a personality all His own. From birth He showed His Divine nature and could speak penetratingly and would then go back to being a completely normal infant as though nothing exceptional were present in his being.

As a child, Jesus was quite the rascal. He loved to eat fish with lemon juice and olive oil. Sometimes it seems as though He was always sitting down to eat. Like any child Jesus enjoyed playing. It should not come as a surprise that Christ had a very playful side, always creating amusing games that He and His friends could play. But, as should also be expected, He also had a very serious side that he only sometimes allowed himself to reveal. It showed itself in the blessing of others, the working of miracles and the reprimanding of the nasty, even as a child.

In return, He was often being reprimanded by His Earthly mother Mary and Joseph and, although obedient, He often corrected their sometimes harsh observations explaining His actions with reason and with respect to both his earthly guardians and His universal laws.

Jesus also mentioned quite often that neither Mary nor Joseph actually grasped who or what he actually was and that while He was on Earth there were also thousands of Angels present all around Him. They often appeared as young men. They ate voraciously at the family table in an effort to maintain their physical presence. Interestingly, they also stated that even as full Archangels that could create worlds and even destroy worlds without consequence, they were not as far along in the spiritual development as human being who had incarnated physically onto the Earth. This is quite a statement given their stature before God and in relation to human beings who were completely powerless in nearly every way.

What also interesting is that He would go for long periods of being just a normal child and put up with the duties of a child and the playfulness of a child, expressing his love to his parents. When the time came, if there was a matter of importance or, if there were visitations from dignitaries his persona would sometimes change to reveal a regal sacredness that endeared love towards him as he would spread his benevolent grace.

In spite of the many sometimes presumptuous and baseless remarks made by would be Biblical historians regarding Jesus Christ and his relationship with the Romans, The Childhood Of Jesus reveals a very friendly relationship with the Romans in general and with a few major Roman figures who adopted Christianity almost as soon as they had met Jesus even as a babe. The Roman Governor of Judea Cyrenius became a close family friend and constant visitor. (The Romans were not at all pleased when the crucifixion happened and came very close to wiping out the entire Sanhedrin right there and then. It was Jesus who appeared to Cyrenius, as detailed in the Great Gospel of John who had prevented it.)

The very nature of the Childhood of Jesus Christ is something that scholars might reject, which invalidates absolutely nothing of it’s worth!! For the most part Biblical scholars work from the hearsay of their peers and more for the furthering of their own careers than to validate the worth of scripture. Given that the Scriptures themselves came into being by the same process that the writings of Jakob Lorber and the Childhood of Jesus have come to the world seems to escape them. Given that, why study sacred scripts at all. This leaves the quest to find the truth of something more in the hands and hearts of the individual rather than the scholar or theologian. In that sense nothing has really changed and, it looks like it never will.

This book was originally known as the Gospel of James, James being the biological son of Joseph the carpenter; Christ’s Earthly father/caregiver, which by the time of the compilation of the Bible was so fragmented and even considered detrimental to Christianity as a whole that it was left out. This action was taken because Christ, even as a child, was very active spiritually. At times he would reprimand children and even elders, sometimes harshly. Although, in absolute terms these are not grounds for it’s omission at that time, we are very happy to have the complete Gospel of Joseph available through Jakob Lorber in this beautiful work entitled The Childhood of Jesus Christ.

The Childhood of Jesus by Jakob Lorber is the Gospel of James, a missing book of the Bible. It was given to Jakob Lorber directly by the Lord to record anew. The Lord announced the new revelation of the Gospel of James to Jakob Lorber in advance on July 22, 1843; He added the following:

“James the son of Joseph recorded everything that occurred. But in time these writings became so distorted, that it cannot be permitted to include them as a genuine part of the Holy Scriptures. Therefore, I shall give you the genuine Gospel of James. However, I shall begin at the time when Joseph took Mary into his household. Whereas in the original writings of James, he recorded Mary’s life from birth as well as Joseph’s life from birth.” And then, this chosen intermediary (Jakob Lorber) received through the voice of the Spirit in his heart a comprehensive, wonderful description of Jesus’ birth and childhood. It was of such intimate exalted beauty and might, that not one heart can deny the divine source and truth of these precious writings. In front of our eyes unfolds the coming into being and the development of the child Jesus under the care of Mary in the house of His foster father Joseph, their flight to Egypt and then being home again in Nazareth.

We experience the first wonderful activities by the Christ child and the acknowledgment of the Spirit of God within the child. We also receive with joyous astonishment unexpected insights into the holy secrets of Jesus, the person. It becomes for us a blissful grace to recognize in the “Son” the “Father” and to find united in Jesus “the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.”

The Original was written in German. This edition of the Childhood of Jesus by Jakob Lorber has been translated into an easy to read English. There is no attempt to make it sound more “Bible like” as that would serve no purpose.

You will likely find pdf’s of the Childhood of Jesus by Jakob Lorber to download online, and that is fine. But, if you want to have a book that you can hold in your hands to read whenever you’d like without the added expense of having to print and bind it, the need of having to turn on your computer or other electronic device to read it, you will find that buying a printed book like this will be much cheaper than printing and binding the pdf, more convenient than less expensive than maintaining an electronic device to read it from.
